Scope of Position:

This role will lead division-wide improvement initiatives to drive operational and financial performance to realize business value. This role will apply performance excellence and project management methodologies and principles to conduct process improvement and modernization projects across the organization. As the division deploys the Life Sciences Transformation Roadmap including SAP’s S/4HANA ERP and related standard digital systems projects, this role will also be applying PEx tools and methodologies to evaluate and support early risk identification and risk mitigation.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Use knowledge and understanding of continuous improvement approaches to facilitate targeted process improvement workshops with cross-functional teams
  • Utilize PEx tools and methodologies for early risk identification and risk mitigation enabling sustainability of improvements and transformation activities (PPA, FMEA, etc.)
  • Prepare clear, concise presentations and project storyboards
  • Perform multiple, simultaneous execution activities to accomplish improvement objectives balancing competing resources, timelines, and deliverables in an on-going, dynamic capacity
  • Document existing business and project workstream processes, collect and analyze data, and recommend improvements with an end-to-end view working back from the customer
  • Manage LST Transformation metrics dashboard process and updates
  • Identify, develop and deliver standard approaches, toolsets and training of PEx methodologies to strengthen PEx culture within transformation project teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve work processes, enhance the quality of service and productivity, and communicate opportunities to leadership
  • Support a culture focused on customer service, continuous improvement, performance measurement, and process control/process discipline
  • Partner with functional teams to share continuous improvement best practices, lessons learned and conduct after action reviews (AAR)
  • Conduct internal Controls & Risk reviews, prepare findings reports and collaborate with workstreams to close gaps
  • Coordinate with Transformation COE team to manage milestone deliverables


Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 25%.
  • May increase during peak deliverables for project deployments


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Monday – Friday, standard business hours
  • Flexibility to support teams in Europe and Asia may be needed
  • Preferred location is Tewksbury, MA or Corning, NY


Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related degree


Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a service or manufacturing organization, ideally in the Life Science or Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in business improvement and performance excellence/measurement projects


Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated track record of leading successful kaizens, sprints, project management and related process improvement activities driving adoption across an organization/department
  • Experience and knowledge of project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with project management and PEx systems/applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Office Timeline, Visio, MindManager, SharePoint, Adobe, PlanView, SPC XL, etc.)
  • Applied knowledge in Lean concepts such as value chain, flow, pull, and tools commonly used to eliminate waste, including kaizen, 5S, error-proofing, value-stream mapping, etc.
  • A clear understanding of process excellence and business process streamlining methodologies
  • Has managed impactful improvements of processes, policies and/or projects


Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Accredited in Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodology
  • Experience with SAP ERP implementation in a multi-national environment
  • Certified DMAIC Green Belt or Black Belt
