2 Co-Ops

Duration:4-6 months starting in Jan-May 2022 Durham / May-Dec 2022 Tewksbury

Scope of Position:

Packaging Internship with Corning Life Sciences in Division Engineering; to support ongoing packaging needs for new and existing products through engineering, design, testing, and internal documentation. Project emphasis on sustainable solutions to decrease carbon footprint in packaging.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • 10% Validation related activities
  • 30% Cost reduction and sustainability projects
  • 30% Package testing
  • 10% Vendor interaction
  • 10% Documentation 
  • 10% Travel

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 25% domestically

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Standard business hours; Monday – Friday.

 

Required Education:

  •  Pursuing BS or MS degree in Packaging Science 

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Must have completed at least 2 years of Packaging Science degree/coursework
  • Driver’s License- due to travel related activities

 

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of packaging test methods (ISTA and ASTM standards)  
  • Related experience/course work in packaging design and engineering  
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook
  • Working knowledge of TOPS pro/ CAPE or related pallet planning software
  • Ability to write technical reports; analyze test data
  • Ability to manage time and schedules for multiple projects

 

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Completed Technical writing and Packaging Test methods

 

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to follow direction and work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Takes the initiative to develop packaging skills and processes
