Scope of Position:

* Develop and update content for various communications tools, including e-newsletter, videos, presentations, posters, social media, etc.

* Lead project to update the division’s foundational communication materials, such as our overview presentation and one-pager

* Assist with planning and monitoring for various internal communication campaigns

* Support planning, promotion, and execution of internal events and employee activities


Day to Day Responsibilities:

* Write and edit content that will be used across various tools for internal and external audiences.

* Work with the communications team on internal employee communication campaigns – including planning, organization, content development, approvals and posting of material.

* Assist with content collection, design and distribution of the division’s weekly employee e-newsletter and monthly printed newsletter.

* Support internal events, such as communication meetings, executive townhalls, and new employee orientation sessions.


Travel Requirements:

Limited domestic travel (less than 5%)


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Full time >40 hours/week


Required Education: Completed at least two years of college with degree concentration in marketing, communications, journalism, media, or related fields

As the Communications Specialist for Corning Life Sciences, you will work as a key member of the Executive & Internal Communications team, providing support across the full spectrum of the division’s communications activities. You will collaborate with internal partners across the division, including senior leadership and the Marketing Communications team, as well as Corporate Communications, to develop best-in-class communications programs and assets to support CLS’ strategy and in compliance with Corning’s corporate standards.


Key Tasks Internal and Executive Communications: As the Communications Specialist for CLS, you will:

• Work with senior leadership to develop communication materials in support of internal and external messaging. Includes PowerPoint presentations, scripts, and videos.

• Work with division and functional leadership to develop plans to communicate key division programs and events. Identify objectives for programs, craft messaging and implement communication plans. May include merger and acquisition communications, external development, or partnerships.

• Lead division’s presence on Corning World, the corporate intranet platform, by planning and developing a pipeline of CLS content to support division communication objectives. Research and write feature stories in conjunction with corporate team.

• Support monthly internal messaging program, which includes the development of content for monthly communications meetings, and the production of the General Manager’s monthly message to the division. Develop the assets required to support these meetings, including PowerPoint presentations, email, audio, and video.

• Lead the CLS internal communications platforms, including intranet and Yammer. Work with internal content managers to deliver current and engaging content. Measure site engagement and satisfaction, and develop strategies to improve these.

• Assist in the management of CLS public relations (PR) activities. This includes regular liaison with our PR agency and internal spokespeople to research and identify PR opportunities, develop key messages for interviews, and provide on-site support as required.

• Report on media coverage, including monthly reporting. Work with Corporate media team to monitor and refine CLS search terms for Daily Bulletin reports of relevant news.

• Assist in the planning and execution of key division events, such as Division Leadership Team meetings and annual sales meeting.

• Maintain tracker of key leadership and events. Ensure that relevant actions are identified for each activity and that deadlines are met.

• Administer CLS internal communications surveys.

• Develop and measure strategies to support major communications programs


Skills Required: As the Communications Specialist for CLS, you have:

• Excellent spoken and written communication skills

• High competency with Microsoft PowerPoint

• Skill developing messaging and communication plans

• Confidence, tact, and a persuasive manner, as well as the ability to work with senior division and corporate executives • Excellent organizational and time management skills

• A willingness and ability to work under deadline pressure

• Social content management and strategy experience


Education and/or Experience Required: As the Communications Specialist for CLS, your education and experience includes:

• A degree in Communications, or a similar major

• Experience working with executive level stakeholders on confidential projects

• Experience developing and leading integrated communication plans

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role

• Familiarity with life sciences industry or willingness to learn

• Project management experience
