Role Purpose
As part of the Corning Life Science’s Strategy and Market Intelligence group, this role is responsible for all aspects of Strategy Development and Planning for the Life Sciences business. This role will work collaboratively with global stakeholders to lead division – level strategy development and support business and functional strategy efforts. Leadership elements include strategy process and framework development, collaboration with business leadership on targeting and selection of key programs, and multi-layered strategy deployment and execution monitoring. Targeted strategy projects may also be assigned.
Objectives will be achieved through a combination of individual contributions and high levels of collaboration spanning many functional areas. In additional to primary responsibilities noted above, the role is expected to be a contributing member of the larger Strategy and Business Development function. Project assignments will be determined as business needs require and may span Market Intelligence, Strategic Planning, and External Development. Time will flex between ongoing strategy development activities and project-based assignments
Key Responsibilities
Strategy:
Lead division annual strategy development process, which encompasses technology, commercial, operational, and supporting functional plans to deliver long-range business objectives.

- Partner with the finance organization to drive alignment of long-range financial plans with the division strategy; inclusive of leading business strategy risk assessments and scenario planning
- Build and deploy integrated strategic frameworks to bridge division strategy to regional, business, and functional plans across both planning and execution phases
- Champion strategy development and planning capability building within the division; enhance and lead annual Product Line Planning (PLP) process as one mechanism to advance these skills.
- Develop strategy evaluation and execution monitoring tools to create visibility to ongoing strategy health for the business; develop and execute mitigation plans to remedy areas of concern
- Define and develop points of view regarding strategic choices for the business, supported by thorough analysis and comprehensive market, technology and customer understanding.
- Identify and vet new business opportunities based on deep understanding of strategic priorities, supported by thorough research and understanding of market, technology, and competitive trends
- Create comprehensive business case models to articulate benefits, cost and risks. Develop and present business proposals for action, including early-stage implementation planning.
- Support internal CLS business teams on strategy development, product performance evaluation, market and new product opportunities for the company’s growth pillars
- General:
- Build dashboards, PowerPoint's, models, and other critical documents that effectively communicate results of efforts and recommendations to various leadership / partners.
- Conduct ad-hoc research – primary and secondary – related to existing or new business.
- Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects.

Experiences/Education - Required
-
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Biological Sciences, Engineering, or related field.
- MBA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 8+ years in market research, strategic planning, or similar disciplines.
- Minimum of 2+ years in the Life Sciences industry.
- Experience developing business insights based on detailed quantitative and qualitative. analysis
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills at the peer and executive levels
- Cross-Functional Team Leadership experience (program or project management).
- Advanced analytical skills & use of associated tools.
- General Life Science product/process knowledge.
- Ability to Leverage Technical and Market Expertise to drive business outcomes.
Experiences/Education - Desired

- Experience within the Life Sciences/Medical Devise or Diagnostics Industry.
- Life Sciences technology knowledge.
- Work experience with a Fortune 500 company.
- Cross cultural awareness and cultural sensitivity with the ability to be flexible.

The range for this position is $177,786.00 - $244,457.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
