Scope of Position:

In this role, you will be responsible for providing metrology standard methodologies and equipment for CLS Division, including new product design and division wide manufacturing locations. We look for you to collaborate with product design group, quality and manufacturing facilities to ensure effective use of GD&T standards on product designs and engineering drawings and review / assist in tolerance stack up analysis. You will also participate in identification of root cause of existing product related quality issues and generate measurement/gauging solutions as needed and help implement into manufacturing. You will work closely with manufacturing and quality groups to conduct manufacturing process validations and support metrology needs of such.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper use of standards on new product designs and complete analysis.
  • Work independently to provide metrology solutions to meet the needs of new product design and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Represent CLS Division Engineering as prime technical engineering contact on projects, interacting with senior external personnel on significant technical/quality matters requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Support Manufacturing and Quality Engineering efforts to define new product test methods, test/inspection, process improvements, and to resolve supplier/customer quality issues. Integrate efforts and collaborate with Manufacturing/Process Engineering.
  • Assess division wide metrology capabilities and equipment.
  • Required to prepare documentation on test results, investigations, problems and troubleshooting.
  • Participates in complaint investigations and continual improvement activities.

 

Travel Requirements:

  • 25% domestic, may include some international.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Monday – Friday, standard business hours.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Engineering or higher in technical discipline.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years with measurements experience, preferably within the Biomedical or medical products high volume manufacturing.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong Mechanical Design capabilities, including plastic component design and tolerance stack up analysis.
  • In depth understanding of plastic part fabrication, injection molding and assembly processes.
  • Design for manufacturing experience.
  • In-depth understanding of product testing and analyzing results.
  • In-depth GD&T Expertise
  • Metrology concepts and gauge development expertise
  • Hands on working knowledge of metrology equipment such as CMM, OMM, vision system inspections
  • Strong statistics concept and statistical data analysis expertise for manufacturing world problem solving through tools like Design of Experiments (DOE), ANOVA, Multivariate Analysis, Regression

 

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering discipline.
  • Ability to handle and measuring work.
  • Experience with ISO13485.
