Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Scope of Position:

This role is responsible for providing customer service, support, and engineering for in-building wireless voice and data systems. We look for you to provide professional on/off-site support for commissioning and troubleshooting of in-building wireless systems as well as provide remote telephone support for customers. We look for you to become a subject matter expert for all technical issues related to the Corning Wireless product family.  

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage relationships and communicate effectively with external and internal customers
  • Provide remote and/or on-site support to customers about the technical details of the Corning Wireless product line
  • Create and/or execute acceptance test plans for new installations and upgrades
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, resolve, replicate and report software and hardware issues
  • Technical documentation for troubleshooting results (root cause, software, etc.) through Case Management and Quality Management systems
  • Drives issues to closure with strong focus on customer satisfaction and acceptance
  • Troubleshoot interface between Corning system and customer’s network
  • Work with project manager and project team to ensure successful project deployments
  • Interface with other support, NPI and engineering resources to provide in-depth technical responses to customers
  • Provide training support and on-site customer education about Corning products
  • Coordinate with TAC support, R&D and PLM to research product capabilities, performance, and field applications
  • Contribute Tech Notes, providing details on the optimum strategies for effective implementation of Corning products

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 75% domestically which can vary based upon customer engagements, meetings, and field activities

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Monday – Friday, standard business hours.
  • Must be able to work from a remote/home office location efficiently

 

Required Education & Years and Area of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sciences or engineering  
  • Or will consider Associate degree and 5+ years of relevant professional experience in mobile infrastructure technology deployments including systems architecture, deployment, troubleshooting and network operations

 

Required Skills:

  • Experience with field deployment, acceptance processes, and support services
  • Experience and knowledge of deploying Small Cells and/or Distributed Antenna Systems
  • Background in Wireless, Mobility, Cellular, TCP/IP Networking, RF Engineering or System Performance
  • Detailed knowledge of IP Protocols including IPv4, IPv6, IPSEC, routing and network protocols
  • Understanding of Cellular technologies and trends
  • A technical understanding of networking protocols and security mechanisms, such as SNMP, SIP, TR-069, SSL/TLS, LDAP, Radius, SOAP/XML
  • Understanding of carrier network architectures used today to deliver data/voice/video services

 

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

  • Expertise with Customer Service Ticketing Systems (i.e., Sales Force, CRM)
  • Understanding of 802.11 Wi-Fi technology and trends
  • Knowledge of scripting or Secure CRT automation expertise
  • Familiarity with 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards and best practices
  • Master’s degree in Telecommunications a plus

 

Soft Skills:

  •  Ability to effectively communicate various levels in the organization through all available mediums (verbal, listening, writing, presenting)
  • A demonstrated ability to learn new products and/or technologies in a dynamic fast paced environment
