Scope of Position
The successful candidate will develop and implement environmental (primary focus), health and safety strategies, working at the Vineland, NJ Facility to reduce impacts, minimize risk and to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and corporate environmental requirements.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Coordinate implementation of the environmental management system (ISO 14001 system. Developing and sharing environmental management system processes to the site.
- Facilitate root cause analysis of environmental incidents and near misses.
- Aid in the development, communication, and execution of environmental health and safety objectives.
- Provide guidance and instruction to site employees, and Operations leads management practices for operations, contractors, vendors and others to maintain Environmental compliance.
- Review projects, plans, and specifications to verify that environmental issues are addressed in a proactive manner. Support projects as requested and collaborate with company and consultant resources to leverage best work practices and to provide additional skill-level support.
- Respond to and communicate new environmental information (i.e. government regulations, industry standards or corporate guidance)
- Compile, analyze, and interpret environmental statistical data. Ensure that all environmental testing and reporting to regulatory agencies is completed as per regulatory requirements.
- Provide consultation regarding Environmental education and training, support and guidance to manufacturing staff and facilities to maintain a work environment consistent with company policy and regulatory requirements.
- Understand Environmental permit requirements for the site and participate in permit reviews with Environmental Compliance Control.
- Contribute, as a team member, in regulatory and corporate inspections and investigations. Aid facility efforts across the site to respond to audits, including developing appropriate corrective actions and tracking the closure of those actions.
- Work closely with the Environmental Compliance Control and Sustainability functions to ensure site follows corporate environmental practices. Interact with federal, state, and local regulators along with Corning’s Law Department and Environmental Compliance Control to resolve compliance issues, establish permit requirements and assist in federal, state, and regulatory audits.

Education/Experience - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in technical field (e.g. Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent related experience)
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in environmental health and safety engineering and knowledge of environmental regulatory programs
- Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations
Required Skills
- Working knowledge of environmental regulatory programs
- Understands the principles and execution of the ISO 14001 EMS standards
- Ability to communicate regulatory compliance requirements to all levels
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills

- Excellent interpersonal skills, relates well to all kinds of people—up and down the company hierarchy, and inside and outside the organization (i.e. regulatory agencies, consultants)

- Ability to work in a dynamic environmental health and safety organization

The range for this position is $64,243.00 - $88,334.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
