Scope of Position:

We are seeking an experienced engineer to provide support in Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing in glass tube forming. In this role, you will help in developing and executing forming strategies and lead process improvement projects in the tube forming operations.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Work will include technical and leadership functions in project and process activities related to hot glass forming in tubing manufacturing

• Collaborate with the different plant locations to understand current state and issues, identify and implement new opportunities in the forming area

• Work in a team-based environment, build high performing teams and also be able to participate as an individual contributor.

• Build expertise with the specific manufacturing equipment and processes on forming end and adjacent process areas of the hot glass manufacturing process

• Provide direction to teams or individuals and drive process improvement

• Lead technical projects and use project management best practices to solve technical and business problem

• Use previous experience in identifying new opportunities and supporting solutions

• Pull in other divisions or corporate resources as needed.

• Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians to continue to build the forming competency in tube manufacturing


Travel Requirements:

• Up to 25% travel, including global travel.


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

• Standard business hours; Monday – Friday.

• May need to support off shift as needed for 24/7 manufacturing and attend global meetings in different time zones.


Required Education:

• B.S or M.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.


Required Years and Area of Experience:

• 5+ years experience of process engineering experience within a manufacturing/engineering environment

• Ability to work in a plant environment and work with all levels of the organization.

• Ability to coach and lead others.

• Strong technical fundamentals in process engineering and/or glass science.

• Ability to learn new technology and processes quickly.

• Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects.

• Flexibility - Able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

• Working knowledge of basic statistics and familiarity with advanced statistical methods

• Experience with process and data analysis including and problem-solving methodologies.


Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

• Experience in tube forming

• Previous experience in leadership roles (process improvement or project management)

• Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma (DMAIC) principles

• Familiarity with Process Control and Process Discipline (PCPD) approach and Product Quality Architecture (PQA), Product and process development (Innovation Stages 2 & 3)

• Demonstrated experience with CAD software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, and/or Inventor)
