JOB SUMMARY Under direction of the Quality Control Supervisor performs variety of pre-determined inspection techniques to determine and maintain quality of ware production in Melting and Forming Division.



• Performs any or all of a variety of pre-determined inspection techniques including sample, process, and 100% plans to determine ware quality at various stages of fabrication. Results of inspection may be used to:

(1) inform production personnel of the need for adjustment of equipment or machines; or

(2) determine the acceptability of ware for further fabrication or final disposition.

• Obtains necessary blueprints, process sheets, and related job information needed for specific inspection. Uses go-no-go gauges, calipers, indicator gauges, limit samples, and precision measuring instruments such as tensile tester, micro-projector, polarimeter, testing standards, etc. Verifies accuracy and distributes gauges to production personnel. Inspects ware visually.

• Records inspection results including the preparation of statistical charts. Records detailed notes about the status of machinery and ware. Makes decisions based on inscription findings. Such decisions are used to pass or reject ware, release newly set-up equipment for production, and release sample requisitions. Assists in maintaining departmental blueprint files and job information cards.

• Advises departmental supervision of unusual conditions. Works with Supervisor on specific problems.

• Observes safety and good housekeeping requirements and

• Observes all safety rules and regulations and performs job in a safe manner.

REQUIRED High School or equivalent. Familiarity with product is necessary.
