The global Human Resource (HR) Function provides an integrated talent management system that delivers a workforce that is Corning's competitive differentiator in the global marketplace.

HR provides service offerings that align solutions to business challenges by ensuring the programs are Effective, Efficient, Global, Scaleable, and Repeatable.  Corning’s Values are operationalized by the HR Function through the facilitation of Talent Management offerings, as well as programs and processes that aid in making Corning’s Values visible.

Role Purpose

As the plant and commercial HR Manager, you cultivate and maintain a positive work environment and operate as “One Corning” in support of Corning’s Values while providing optimal level of HR service and delivery in support of business goals and objectives.  You will partner closely with plant, division, and corporate leadership on key initiatives while ensuring compliance to legal and regulatory guidelines. You will be responsible for providing strategic and operational HR support to the manufacturing plant and commercial organization within our Corning Pharmaceutical Glass (CPG) business. This role oversees all aspects of human resources for both hourly/plant employees and plant and commercial staffs, ensuring alignment with business objectives, compliance, best practices, and a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with plant and commercial leadership to align HR activities with business goals and recommend improvements to policies and processes based on HR trends. 
  • Partner with Division HR to implement standardized HR programs while addressing plant-specific needs and deploy HR shared service delivery models to support transformational goals. 
  • Lead and manage HR projects and initiatives for the plant and commercial teams, participate in division-level initiatives, and oversee talent reviews, employee surveys, and action planning for the plant. 
  • Actively participate and partner with Corporate Employee Relations on labor relations efforts for a unionized workforce of over 200 employees, including grievance resolution, contract negotiation support, and compliance with labor laws and union agreements. 
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment to enhance employee satisfaction and productivity, maintaining a strong presence on the plant floor to address employee concerns. 
  • Mediate conflicts between employees or departments, and address disputes in a timely and effective manner. 
  • Educate management and supervisors on required programs and processes to drive a positive work environment across plant and commercial teams. 
  • Identify opportunities for talent development, succession planning, and employee growth initiatives. 
  • Oversee performance evaluations, provide guidance to managers on employee development, address performance issues, and implement corrective actions while recognizing and rewarding employee contributions. 
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws. 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • BS Degree in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or Labor Relations or equivalent qualification/certification/experience
  • Minimum 5 years progressive experience in the HR function required
  • Manufacturing and union/labor relations experience preferred
  • Background in HR Management, conflict resolution, training and development, investigation skills
  • Able to operate independently and drive all aspects of the HR role for the plant
  • Proficient data analysis and computer skills
  • HR service orientation with a strong ability and passion for balancing the needs of the company, business, and our employees
  • Expert level communication skills
  • Able to develop and deploy HR initiatives

The range for this position is $124,078.00 - $170,608.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
