Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Dynamic and meaningful role where you will lead project teams to improve existing processes or develop new products and processes.

  • You will have the ability define the plan to meet and improve objectives, including technology strategy, costs, resources and risk analyses.
  • We supervise progress to plan and budget, with periodic reporting out to program leadership and partners.
  • Lead team to down select manufacturing options based on the technical fundamentals, performance and manufacturing cost criteria
  • We drive efficient and effective problem solving and capability demonstration using theoretical, empirical and modeling approaches
  • Build and maintain internal and external contacts allowing you to facilitate technical project leadership in target corporate areas.
  • Projects you will be involved with may include supporting any Corning division or new business potentially including external vendors and contracts. New processes/products that include the ability to lead innovation and uncertainty in the delivery to market. And advanced capability through delivery of robust technical solutions based on understanding of manufacturing technology and application of engineering and material science fundamentals.

 

Required Education and Years of Experience:

  • We prefer a MS or PhD but do require at least a BS in Engineering or Material Science
  • 8+ years experience (spanning multiple stages of innovation preferred) as well as a track record of transferring new products/process into manufacturing

 

Required Skills:

  • Lead multi-functional/interdisciplinary teams to provide coordinated solutions

  • Good written and verbal interpersonal skills, including ability to clearly summarize for company leadership as well as a strong work ethic
  • Strong background in engineering and/or material technical fundamentals

 

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Corning processes and business systems

  • Experiences and accomplishments spanning from early stage innovation to late stage manufacturing across multiple Corning business units
  • Experience with tools to manage risk for new products and technology (ex., Innovation Black Belt IBB)
  • Knowledge of modeling capability and how to use modeling tools

 

Soft Skills:

  • Outstanding ability to drive decisions through influencing skills
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements at a moment’s notice
  • Strive to integrate well into new businesses/teams as project change
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills

 

Travel Requirements:

  • Flexibility is instrumental- Significant domestic and international travel required - up to 50%
