Key Responsibilities:

Charged with defining and executing the product line strategy and managing the P&L of the priority innovation program of the Automotive Glass Solutions division. Role scope includes responsibility for 4Ps (product, pricing, promotion and placement); emphasis on product value prop development, in partnership with development, and deployment, in partnership with sales, to automotive OEM and Tier 1 account. This leader is accountable for successfully achieving agreed to business objectives within a global matrix organization structure and environment of high complexity, ambiguity, and dynamic requirements. Will lead cross‐functional SWAT teams accountable to general manager to win nominations for high priority, material and global automotive SOP opportunities. This position will involve frequent interactions with senior management and key stakeholders and will be expected to collaborate across operations, engineering and development within the AGS business.

 

Role details include:

  • Develop the product or product line’s market value proposition and pricing strategy.
  • Develop and execute the product line planning process, including the identification of critical projects to be undertaken for the year.
  • Find the optimal solution (balancing the needs of Corning and the customer) to all product issues related to performance (i.e., specs, attributes, services), quality, share growth, customer needs (contract management).
  • Understand downstream market requirements and assess competitive threats and implications for the business.
  • Create long‐term forecasting plans
  • Works with Program Management or New Business Development to ‘receive’ new products, as appropriate.
  • Develops a compelling market value proposition that differentiates Corning’s products and services in the marketplace.
  • Responsible to define sales pitch, customer presentation and internal training material.
  • Develops the product line strategy and manages the product line through the stages of innovation, from product concept through commercialization and life‐cycle management, as appropriate depending on the stage of handoff from Program Management or New Business Development.
  • May manage a portfolio of markets and customer segmentations, in the case where the product line’s products hold different positions within the markets they reach.
  • Identifies the best mix for the market(s) through effective segmentation and portfolio rationalization.
  • Optimizes inventory management related to the product line by coordinating information flow, as needed, between Forecasting, Sales, Manufacturing, and other parties as needed.
  • May get involved in supply chain disruption issues to influence or make decisions on global order and Development/Manufacturing prioritization.
  • Works with Manufacturing and Sales to identify opportunities to reduce complexity and cost reduction in the manufacturing process both at Corning’s plant(s) and the customer site, as appropriate.
  • Works with the Standards group to set and drive the standards strategy for the product line.

 

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated track record of managing various priorities and projects.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading multi‐functional teams.
  • Work experience in a Commercial function.
  • Participation in, or leadership of, multicultural and/or multi‐geographic projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree – technical degree preferred.
  • MBA or equivalent demonstrated experience (i.e., extensive experience in business).

 

Desired skills or competencies

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree – Engineering, Applied Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Work experience in Manufacturing, Engineering and/or Development.
  • Financial analysis and accounting experience.
  • Work experience in a Strategy group.
  • International business work experience.
