Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position:
Corning’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology organization (AMT) is focused on aspects of manufacturing equipment across the following areas – design/development, industrialization, procurement, deployment, and startup. This role is in the Fiber Capital Programs (FCP) department within the Advanced Manufacturing Technology group (AMT) and is centered around capital equipment acquisition and delivery logistics. The position is for an FCP staff-level Equipment Acquisition Manager to manage the acquisition of equipment that will be installed by FCP deployment teams.
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
The Equipment Acquisition Supervisor will:
• Lead a multi-disciplinary team consisting of logistics, equipment, and procurement Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in support of multiple, concurrent capital projects.
• Coordinate equipment acquisition for medium and large-scale projects for equipment upgrades and brown/green-field installations.
• Develop and execute strategy for receiving, tracking, storage and staging project equipment.
• Facilitate engagement with other AMT groups - Capital Deployment Projects Teams, Development, Technology Platforms, and Cable Technology.
• Coordinate establishment of equipment specifications and requirements (e.g., configuration, quantity).
• Generate timeline for equipment delivery and incorporate into integrated schedule.
• Maintain working relationship with Global Supply Management and oversee technical support for and collaboration with Global Supply Management and equipment vendors throughout the competitive bid process (vendor identification, RFQ, vendor selection) then support resolution of issues during the equipment build process.
• Manage interface with the Project Logistics Group to deliver the equipment per integrated schedule.
• Oversee development, maintenance, improvement of tracking tools.
Travel Requirements:
Periodic travel (<25%) to vendor sites and project locations (domestic and international).
Work Schedule:
Typical schedule is 40+hrs M-F hours. Periodic off-hour availability (evenings/weekends) may be required based on project needs and activity.
Required Education:
BS in Engineering or Project Management
Skills:
• Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project)
• Project management (budgeting, scheduling, executing)
• Reading/writing technical specifications
• Navigational ability in Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault
• Process oriented mindset with drive for continuous improvement
• Proficient with organizing data and optimizing
• Able to direct multiple workstreams and functions concurrently
• Customer service focus
Experience:
• 5+ years of experience managing capital projects
• Leading multi-disciplined and multi-organizational teams
• Coordinating logistics
• Overseeing or executing procurement activities
• Leading decision analyses
• Managing vendor relationships

The range for this position is $132,589.00 - $182,310.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
