Summary:

Join our global drafting team and play a key role in the creation, revision, and storage of electronic drawing files using AutoCAD Electrical for custom-designed process equipment deployed at Corning manufacturing facilities worldwide.

In this role, you will take ownership of preliminary controls drawing packages from engineering and development teams, completing all necessary updates and revisions before releasing them into the system (Autodesk Vault). Responsibilities include ensuring schematics accurately capture all components, panel layouts are precise, circuits are technically complete, and designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and Corning-specific drafting protocols.

Additionally, you will support or lead controls design initiatives, such as creating designs for new auxiliary process equipment, integrating new features into existing systems, or developing entirely new equipment platforms. These efforts may involve designing power distribution layouts, I/O and safety circuits, and entire process equipment platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Finalize controls drawing packages (including schematics, P&IDs, cable layouts, and panel layouts) handed over by engineering/development teams.
  • Conduct thorough technical reviews of schematics to identify and address open or incomplete circuits.
  • Ensure all drawing packages comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Manage drawing package releases and revisions through the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process.
  • Provide support during equipment fabrication, assembly, and installation to resolve drawing-related issues.
  • Assist engineers, technicians, and maintenance teams in locating and accessing relevant process equipment drawings within the database.
  • Contribute to the improvement of drafting processes by developing new standards, policies, and procedures.

Education Requirements:

  • Preferred:
    • A.A.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Required:
    • High School diploma with 1+ year of electrical experience.
    • Candidates without formal degrees must demonstrate proficiency and aptitude in the electrical/controls field.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based computer systems.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Familiarity with industry standards such as NFPA, IEC, IEEE, and JIC.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk Vault software.

Professional Attributes:

  • Strong attention to detail and a solid work ethic.
  • Ability to adapt to company standards and guidelines.
  • 0–5 years of professional experience in controls drafting preferred.

Why This Role Matters:
