Scope of Position

Corning’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology organization (AMT) is focused on aspects of manufacturing equipment across the following areas – design/development, industrialization, procurement, deployment, and startup. This role is in the Fiber Capital Programs (FCP) department within the Advanced Manufacturing Technology group (AMT) and is centered around capital equipment acquisition and delivery logistics. The position is for a Draw and Downstream Acquisition Lead to manage the acquisition of equipment that will be installed by FCP deployment teams.

 

Day-to-day Responsibilities

The Draw-Downstream Equipment Acquisition Lead will:

• Lead equipment acquisition efforts for medium and large-scale projects for draw-downstream equipment upgrades and brown/green-field installations.

• Establish equipment specifications and requirements (configuration, quantity, etc.).

• Provide technical support for Global Supply Management and equipment vendors throughout the competitive bid process (vendor identification, RFQ, vendor selection) then support resolution of issues during the equipment build process.

• Generate timeline for equipment delivery and incorporate into integrated schedule.

• Participate in deployment team planning activities

• Engage with other AMT groups - Capital Deployment Project Teams, Development, Technology Platforms, and Cable Technology.

• Lead a multi-disciplinary team consisting of logistics, equipment, and procurement Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in support of multiple, concurrent capital projects.

• Coordinate factory acceptance testing (FAT)

 

Required Education/Experience

• BS in Engineering, Project Management or Supply Chain Management

• Familiarity with Draw and Downstream manufacturing equipment and processes as well as the capital purchasing process

• Navigational ability in Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault

• 5+ years of experience on capital projects

• Working with external vendors

 

 

Travel Requirements

Periodic (<20%) travel to vendor sites and project locations (domestic and international).
