Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Provides hands-on electrical support for installation, commissioning, and startup of manufacturing equipment within Corning’s Fiber Capital Projects (FCP) team. Works with engineering teams to deliver safe, reliable automation systems for domestic and international capital projects.

What You'll Do

Install, commission, start up, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
Support testing, debugging, and turnover of automated systems to operations.
Coordinate contractors and maintenance teams during installation and construction activities.
Support project planning, scheduling, and execution with safety and quality compliance.
Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues and implement corrective actions.
Modify PLC logic, I/O, and control sequences as needed.
Update electrical documentation, drawings, and equipment specifications.
Work with integrators and engineering teams to deploy equipment.
Support material procurement and installation readiness.
Train maintenance and technical staff on equipment installation and operation.
Support continuous improvement of installation and equipment performance.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (480VAC and below) and schematics.
Experience with PLC-based automation and industrial control systems.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls issues.
Experience coordinating contractors and installation activities.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and hands-on technical skills.
Knowledge of OSHA, NEC, and NFPA safety standards.

Education and Experience

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field (or equivalent experience).
2+ years of manufacturing or industrial automation experience.
Experience with equipment installation and commissioning preferred.
Experience with Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, or B&R PLCs.
SCADA/HMI and industrial automation experience.
AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical experience.
Optical fiber manufacturing experience.

Travel Requirements

Up to 50%

Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday (40+ hours/week).
Overtime, weekends, and adjusted hours may be required.

The range for this position is $58,411.00 - $80,316.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
