Role Purpose: IT Supervisor/Manager Integrated Manufacturing Systems will lead a team of highly motivated and skilled engineers and technicians whose responsibility is to manage, modify, and develop IT systems – Controls, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Manufacturing/Business Intelligence, ERP Integration systems required to manufacture optical fiber and the associated computer systems to support 24x7 manufacturing. This person will also lead and participate in projects to meet the plant’s objectives, drive cost reduction efforts or expand capacity equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position will be responsible for leading a team responsible for the IT-related software associated with at multiple manufacturing process steps in the Wilmington Optical Fiber manufacturing plant. In this capacity, he/she will work closely with the community leadership in the plant to implement improvements in these process areas.
  • The person will work with other IT supervisors to learn the control systems in their areas of responsibility along with ancillary data feeds to a manufacturing execution system and reporting systems.
  • The person will also be responsible for overseeing development or modification of other software systems that support manufacturing in the plant such as web-based or stand-alone applications.
  • When the person leads a project, he/she will ensure that projects are delivered on time, on scope, and on budget through project prioritization and effective resource management.
  • The person will interact with the customer base in the community as the IT community representative to ensure the type and level of services provided fully support achievement of community business objectives.

Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science

Years of Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience in IT department in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years demonstrated leadership abilities

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated through project management, supervisor experience, or team leadership.
  • Conflict resolution, problem resolution and priority setting.
  • Communication and time management, able to deal with multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Ability to train, coach, and direct others.
  • Experience leading the talent development strategy in a department, including programs to attract, develop and retain key talent.
