The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Role Purpose

  • This position will lead division standards while working with other team members and resources in the division to manage, modify, and develop computer systems required to manufacture optical fiber.
  • The position will also lead and participate in projects to meet the optical fiber division’s objectives, drive cost reduction efforts, and participate in capacity expansion efforts.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work hand in hand with a team of engineers to develop and provide support for our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implementation, encompassing software to server assistance across the optical fiber division.
  • Demonstrate leadership by mentoring junior developers, fostering their technical skills and knowledge, and encouraging professional growth.
  • Develop and drive division standards for MES and server implementation.
  • Participate in capital projects.

 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in Object-Oriented design and development using languages such as C#, VB.Net, Java, etc.
  • Proficient in computer programming skills including: C#, VB.Net, SQL, Camstar, Git.

 

Experiences - Desired

  • Experience with Camstar Product & Core components– Designer/Modelling
  • Proven capability or experience in integrating MES into manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Windows Server and IIS administration.
  • Familiarity with Git and Azure Dev Ops/Git Lab.
  • Experience in production support within a manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and debugging skills with a keen ability to discern the underlying needs in requests.

 

 

Travel Requirements & Work Hours:

  • Some domestic and international travel may be required (0-10%)
  • Monday-Friday 8AM - 5PM. 
  • Some after hours, on-call support may be needed.
  •  

 

 

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.  

The range for this position is $106,089.00 - $145,873.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
