The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Role Purpose
In this role, you will join a team of highly motivated and skilled engineers and technicians to manage, modify, and develop warehouse systems required to manage storage and shipment of optical fiber. You will also participate in projects to meet the plant’s objectives or drive cost reduction efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Duties will primarily revolve around building software by writing and modifying code to fix errors, adapt it to software requirements, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces, as well as working on technical issues, such as software system design and maintenance.
- Assist team of engineers to provide production support and troubleshooting for the Wilmington warehouse operation. Work with production associates, technicians, and engineers to ensure reliable warehouse operation via automated systems and user interfaces.
- Support process and product optimization/improvement efforts.
- Providing system testing and validation procedures.
- Providing software programming and documentation development.
- Working with project managers, customers or departments on technical issues including software system design and maintenance.
- Some after hours, on-call support may be needed.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field. Equivalent development experience may be allowed in lieu of degree.
- Some experience (including school and internships) with modern programming languages including: (Python, C#, .NET, etc.).
- Back-end development skills and knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.).
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities for effective collaboration across departments.
- Willing to be on call on a rotational basis in a 24x7 manufacturing environment.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Knowledge of warehouse systems preferred.
- .NET Developer (Visual Studio, ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, SQL Server, MVC, SSIS).
- .NET with SQL Server for data management and Active Directory for identity management, following Department standards.
- IT experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with message queues like MSMQ and RabbitMQ
- Experienced working with IT systems in a 24/7 manufacturing plant environment
- Experience with VBA/VB6 for converting legacy applications to .NET

The range for this position is $60,946.00 - $83,802.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
