Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Summary
The Logistics leader will coordinate all logistics requirements for the OFC Division to assure parts traceability, on-time delivery to customers, and business commitments on cost and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure parts and systems move to their correct destination on time.
- Route shipments using approved carriers.
- Coordinate truckload deliveries with internal and external customers.
- Coordinate the preparation of documentation for export / import shipments.
- Initiate cost improvement projects using six sigma tools.
- Coordinate the preparation of all commercial and import, export documentation required for goods movement, client payment and customs clearance.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with all U.S. and international laws governing transportation and transactions (hazardous materials, licensable equipment, international banking laws, etc.).
- Maintain on-going communications with a wide spectrum of internal customers and interfaces, and external suppliers and customers.
- Investigate shipment errors and issues and develop programs to eliminate them.
- Develop packaging initiatives to reduce costs and improve product protection.
Required Education & Skills
- Associates degree or higher, and a minimum of 5+ years of experience in operations, supply chain, logistics and/or materials planning.
- Significant attention to detail, coordination and communication with many functions within Corning and companies outside Corning.
- Demonstrated ability to drive results in a team environment.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Desired Skills
- Working knowledge of People Soft or other ERP.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- APICS certification.
Travel Requirements
- This position is based in Wilmington, NC. No travel associated with this role.
Hours of Work/Work Schedule
- 40 hours+ M-F, adjusted hours may be required.
- This position overtime exempt.

The range for this position is $42,441.00 - $58,357.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
