Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting electrical, controls, mechanical, and equipment issues. Drive resolution using sound technical principles, logical problem solving methods, and effective communication and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively use dashboards, equipment indications, Pi, PowerBi, Reports, and other process data to monitor equipment performance and identify issues
  • Prioritize issues against plant and department priorities
  • Identify, describe, and document issue and troubleshooting actions in dashboard annotations, passdown, or other logs
  • Coordinate teamwork among operators, technicians, engineers, and trades personnel to address equipment troubleshooting, repair, and startup on shift
  • Champion safety culture with daily emphasis on upholding safety regulations and housekeeping duties
  • Complete required quality checks and certifications
  • Participate on a trained spill team and respond to spill alarms
  • Work overtime on a rotating basis to support staffing requirements and fill in for Shift Supervisor as needed
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, optimization, and loss elimination

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Associate degree (electrical, mechanical, or controls technology preferred) OR high school diploma with 3+years of manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair various machinery components (electrical, pneumatic, controls, and mechanical devices)
  • Able to communicate effectively with clear and conscise written and verbal communication skills

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Demonstrated people leadership including conflict managment and controlled response under pressure while exercising good judgement
  • Able to use multi-meter, allen wrenches, screwdrivers, and other hand tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Successful 1-3 year track record of performance in previous technical role
  • Able to train effectively by simplifying complex concepts into key points and tailored to other's learning styles
  • Experience with navigating PLC ladder logic, structured text, and associated faults on motors and drives
  • Able to read and intrepret electrical schematics
  • Experience with Lockout Tagout

The range for this position is $48,250.00 - $66,344.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
