Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Job Summary:

 

This role provides essential administrative support to the Plant Manager and plant staff, ensuring efficient daily operations at the facility. This role is responsible for coordinating customer and executive visits, organizing plant events, supporting training and workforce initiatives, and maintaining accurate data reporting.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Administrative Support:
    • Provide high-level administrative assistance to the Plant Manager and plant staff.
    • Provide administrative support to all staff level departments as needed, including communications, document preparation, and use of Microsoft Office applications.
    • Update materials for monthly communications meetings.
    • Support scheduling of P&M interviews.

 

  • Customer and Executive Visits:
    • Coordinate and organize customer and executive visits to the plant, including scheduling, room setup, catering, and other logistics.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for visitors, ensuring a professional and seamless experience.
    • Assist in creating agendas, presentations, and materials for site visits or meetings.

 

  • Plant Events Coordination:
    • Plan and organize plant-wide events, such as employee recognition ceremonies, holiday celebrations, team-building activities, and community engagement events.
    • Manage event logistics, including scheduling, communication, and vendor coordination as needed.
    • Ensure successful execution of events through strong planning and attention to detail.

 

  • Training and Workforce Initiatives:
    • Provide administrative support for workforce development, including scheduling training sessions and tracking completion of training programs.
    • Assist in coordinating employee engagement initiatives and development opportunities.
    • Support plant leadership in implementing and improving workforce-related processes.

 

  • Data and Reporting Support:
    • Collect, maintain, and analyze data related to plant operations, including headcount and overtime reports.
    • Prepare accurate and timely reports for the leadership team, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
    • Assist with special projects and other administrative tasks as needed.
 

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree required
  • 3+ years of experience as an administrative assistant, executive assistant, or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with other office software systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to create effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and represent the plant professionally at all times.
  • Able to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to plan effectively and follow through on tasks.
 

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Familiarity with workforce training and development programs.
  • Knowledge of plant operations or manufacturing environments.
  • Curious, proactive, and learning-oriented mindset.
  • Informal yet highly professional demeanor.
  • Ability to explore and develop solutions using office technology.
  • Ability to lead small projects and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.

The range for this position is $51,452.00 - $70,747.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
