Purpose of the Position:

To lead and/or participate on project teams to develop new manufacturing technology for the purposes of reducing cost, increasing capacity and/or improving product.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering-level production support to manufacturing operation and actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects.
  • Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Provide engineering expertise for fundamental understanding of manufacturing issues.
  • Lead and/or provide support for projects involving cost reduction, process optimization, and new products.
  • Develop and maintain systems to monitor and proactively address equipment/process performance, including trend analysis and implementation plans.
  • Identify root causes of reoccurring issues, and aid in the transfer of responsibilities to MET (Mfg Excellence Teams) and Production.
  • Receive and integrate new technologies to improve process capability while ensuring proper processes are followed during transfer.
  • Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
  • Provide training for operations workforce regarding equipment or operations changes.

 

Travel Requirements:

Less than 5%

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

8 to10 hours/day; 40-50 hours/week. This position requires off-hours coverage on nights and weekends on a rotating basis with co-workers.

 

Required Education & Experience:

  • BS or MS in the following Engineering Disciplines: Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Electrical or Ceramic Engineering
  • 0-3 years' engineering experience in manufacturing environment.

 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively on all levels of an organization.
  • Use scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively, using well-designed and executed processes.
  • Strong data analysis and statistical skills; experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Minitab, or equivalent.
  • Resolve and recommend the best solution from a series of alternatives within plant guidelines.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to be able to collaborate amongst the plant teams.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting to support financial decisions within project teams.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with Pi process books

 

Soft Skills:

  • Work well both within a multi-disciplined team, and independently with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to allocate/supervise resources to accomplish goals.
