Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of Position:
Development Technician responsible for working within teams to develop new or improved optical fiber manufacturing equipment or and processes that deliver improved product attributes or reduced cost of optical fiber.
Responsibilities:
• Support the design, install, and process troubleshooting of development equipment.
• Develop, install, and refine new mechanical and/or process capabilities to support evolving technology needs.
• Execute experimental plans, collect data, and assist in interpreting results to guide development decisions.
• Collaborate with equipment design engineers, processing equipment deployment teams, and manufacturing receivers during later stages of technology development.
• Provide support for startup of new equipment.
• Develop and deliver training, procedures, and documentation to ensure effective transfer of new technologies to manufacturing.
Required Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree or equivalent 2-year technical degree in Chemistry or Chemical engineering /Materials science/ or Mechanical Engineering curriculum technical degree, accompanied by minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with demonstrated skills; May consider H.S. diploma and 10+ years of relevant experience in technical and manufacturing fields in lieu of Associate’s Degree requirements.
• Strong process and equipment troubleshooting capabilities and attention to detail.
• Mechanical and chemical manufacturing process aptitude.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD (or similar)
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic development environment.
• Proficiency in accurately documenting work and organizing electronic technical documentation.
Travel Requirements:
Domestic travel expected <10%.

The range for this position is $72,744.00 - $100,023.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
