Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Supports electrical controls design, documentation, and implementation for new equipment, upgrades, and capacity expansion in Optical Fiber manufacturing. Works with engineering teams to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with standards.

 

What You'll Do

  • Create and maintain electrical controls drawings (schematics, P&IDs, layouts).
  • Update and revise documentation through ECR process.
  • Support equipment build, installation, and startup by resolving design issues.
  • Assist with FAT and incorporate field changes into drawings.
  • Support new equipment, replacements, and capacity expansion projects.
  • Help improve and standardize equipment designs.
  • Maintain documentation in Autodesk Vault.

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Understanding of industrial electrical and controls systems.
  • Experience with electrical CAD and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

 

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology + 3+ years experience preferred, or
  • High School diploma and 3+ years relevant experience.
  • Strong practical controls design experience may substitute for degree.
  • AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, or Vault experience.
  • Knowledge of NFPA, IEC, IEEE, or similar standards.
  • Manufacturing equipment or capital project experience.
  • 3+ years controls drafting or electrical CAD experience.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25% travel, mostly within NC, occasional international.
  • Valid passport required or ability to obtain.

 

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday.
  • Occasional travel and flexibility required.

The range for this position is $70,094.00 - $96,379.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
