Role Purpose

The Workforce Development Leader is responsible for designing, facilitating, and managing ongoing training and skill development methods to both the manufacturing and leadership populations for the plant. Delivers assessments and works proactively with plant leadership to understand new training needs to accomplish plant objectives and measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops an understanding of plant processes and tasks to effectively support the manufacturing workforce and enhance training strategies.
  • Collaborates with various plant functions, such as operations, warehousing and maintenance, to identify opportunities for hiring, onboarding and retention.
  • Develops innovative career broadening solutions for the salaried workforce in an environment with limited transition opportunities.
  • Cultivates strong relationships with employees to enhance their chances of success, achieved through a visible presence on manufacturing floor and regular engagement with front line supervisors and coordinators.
  • Acts as a liaison between Operations and Human Resources, facilitating hiring, onboarding and talent retention efforts.
  • Leverages various assessment methods, such as surveys, employee interviews, focus groups, and consultation with managers, to consistently identify opportunities for growth and development
  • Attend meetings, seminars or actively engages in professional organizations to stay up-to-date on the latest practices in manufacturing and employee development.
  • Designs, plans, organizes and oversees orientation and training programs for employees.
  • Regularly optimizes existing training materials, procedures, etc. through redesign or refresh, while incorporating new methods and industry best practices.
  • Presents information using a diverse range of instructional techniques or formats, including role-playing simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures.
  • Develops and implements training programs that directly impact key performance measures such as productivity, efficiency, and lean principles.
  • Conducts a departmental gap assessment and develops a project plan to address identified gaps and determine the specific training needs of the plant.
  • Engages in effective communication and collaboration with other Workforce Development Leaders on various training initiatives and projects.
  • Ensures timely, thorough, and professional communication with staff members and internal customers.
  • Serves as GTC for plant.

 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with organizational design or training experience
  • Able to initiate and manage multiple tasks and projects as necessary
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Microsoft Office, Outlook
  • Good time management & organizational skills

  • Ability to interact at all levels within the organization
  • Able to maintain high levels of confidentiality and credibility

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Tools and Applications (SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  •  Ability to facilitate small group and/or large group training sessions
  • Self-starter

The range for this position is  $105,424.00   -  $144,958.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
