Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
This position is critical in bridging the gap between product development and manufacturing operations, ensuring that new products and processes are seamlessly integrated while maintaining high standards of efficiency and compliance.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Support plant safety programs to provide a safe working environment.
Work closely with supervisors, process engineers, and operating personnel to stay abreast of current problems and take corrective action. - Conduct formal and informal training on production equipment and processes.
- Perform or assist in performing the evaluation of equipment and/or raw materials. Determines test requirements, conduct trials, records and analyzes data and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.
- Prepare, operate, and troubleshoot processing equipment and perform maintenance activities on equipment and calibrate where appropriate. Practice and assist in development and introduction of new process technologies.
- Generate and carry out plans to track and stratify defect data on process equipment.
- Continually stay abreast of new technologies and seeks methods to improve existing equipment and processes.
- Provide timely and appropriate feedback to engineers on process enhancements and developments.
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in a technical field with a minimum of 5 years of engineering technician work experience or related manufacturing experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with a minimum of 2 years of engineering technician work experience or related manufacturing experience
- Strong logistical skills and strong data analysis and interpretation skills
- Equipment / process aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and characterize key process drivers
Desired Skills:
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or previous experience utilizing DMAIC and lean manufacturing methodologies
- Proficiency with MS Excel, SPC Excel, and/or Minitab or other statistical software
- Familiarity reading and creating basic mechanical drawings
- Manufacturing plant experience

The range for this position is $69,848.00 - $96,041.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
