Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems
  • Maintain, operate all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, building management system, generators, air compressors and building repairs
  • Perform facility inspections and report on condition affecting operations
  • Respond to emergency calls
  • Prepare and submit summary reports of conditions in buildings and recommend actions to be taken
  • Review and understand equipment and methods of operation, BMS system, fire/life
  • Safety equipment such as fire suppression, alarm system, etc.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and requirements
  • Maintain compliance to City, County, State ordinances and codes
  • Support afterhours building needs and activities as needed

 

Requirements Skills/Competencies:

  • Basic mechanical and electrical background
  • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors
  • Perform or provide assistance in all operations of maintenance and facility.
  • Fork truck License and valid driver’s license (desired)
  • Good interpersonal skills and supports team environment
  • Ability to multitask and delivers results on established tasks and goals
  • Accountable for objectives/goals and follows up on tasks
  • Flexibility in work hours
  • Anticipates problems and takes action to resolve
  • Has methodical and logical approach
  • Basic computer skills including Excel, Word and Maximo (desired)
  • Observes all safety and housekeeping regulations Qualifications

 

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma and Certifications
  • Current Refrigeration Certification
  • 2-10 years of related experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with computer and basic software packages such as MS office and Maximo or similar (desired)
  • Communicate effectively both orally and written
  • Maintain detailed and accurate reports
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with peers and contractors

The range for this position is ​$25.25 hourly rate - $29.63 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
