Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes the cause of equipment breakdowns and works with cross-functional teams to reduce the overall number of downtime issues.
  • Develops preventative maintenance programs with leading metrics.
  • Coordinates the maintenance requirement specifications with engineering for the design of new machinery.
  • Consistently executes key deliverables and project plans in support of machine availability.
  • Provides leadership and direction to maintenance and facilities team.  Is able to engage and inspire team to perform at a high level.
  • Develops cross-training and development plans for all team members.
  • Recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies.
  • Frequently interacts with supervisors, outside contractors and functional peer groups to achieve plant goals.
  • Able to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.
  • Provides general supervision to lower level supervisors and direct supervision to exempt employees and/or skilled nonexempt employees.
  • Encompasses the application of scientific and technological principles to preserve or keep the operation of machines, furnaces, equipment, and systems in proper condition in an industrial environment.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • 4-year degree
  • Facilities and/or maintenance leadership experience
  • Prefer experience within the Corning maintenance network

 

Required Skills:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data to drive decisions
  • Knowledge of Maximo
  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools

 

Travel: <10%
