Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Education & Experience:

• BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering strongly preferred

• Min of 3 years manufacturing experience

• Strong Mechanical or Electrical machine/process troubleshooting background

• Prior leadership/managerial of experienced technicians preferred

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze data and develop plans to improve MTBF and MTTR to support uptime requirements to meet/exceed plant production plans.

• Support reduction of repair parts inventory, finding less expensive repair tactics or working to decrease PM activities. Monitor Repair & Maintenance spending levels and lead project efforts to maximize cost reduction

• Monitoring equipment and processes and associated metrics (Yield, OEE, TAU). MET is responsible for improving downtime associated with typical machine losses and reliability.

• Identify and implement manufacturing improvement solutions as needed to support capacity needs

• Identify and lead process quality improvements and safety projects

• Technology receivership – both lead and support as required with existing local staffing constraints day to day responsibilities:

• Supervise the MET technicians including training, feedback and annual review process.

  • This role will require regular off-shift support and participate as on-call supervisor for engineering team up to several days per month. Regular off hours engagement will be expected.

• Active participation in Engineering & Operations leadership functions and forums

• Continue the development of the MET organization to include further definition of roles/responsibilities, communication paths, performance measures and coverage plans

• Interface with the other MET Supervisors in the division to share best practices. Be an active member of the Division Asset Reliability Team and support initiatives.

• Ensure appropriate levels of troubleshooting steps are taken based on process feedback, checklist, control charts, and attribute management and other information. MET owns the TSG’s and should be updating them as new process improvements are developed.

 

Hours:

This role will require regular off-shift support and participate as on-call supervisor for engineering team up to several days per month. Regular off hours engagement will be expected.
