Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Preventative Maintenance Technician

Major Responsibilities
- Perform root cause analysis of breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare written maintenance instructions, records, and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) “Maximo”.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Perform rebuild on bench top equipment such as heat treatment systems.
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Lead Preventative Maintenance Technician, Maintenance Supervisor/Coordinators.
Skills/Characteristics Desired
- Self-motivated.
- Strong and systematic analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- In-depth understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.
- Thorough working knowledge of electrical, mechanical systems.
- Experience with LOTO and electrical safety.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Experience in the use of hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and machine shop equipment.
- Good communication skills.
- Accuracy, attention to details, and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to react positively to rapidly changing priorities.
- Capable of independently managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Demonstrated initiative and an eagerness to drive continuous improvement.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Candidate will perform hands on preventative maintenance on process equipment supporting the cabling process equipment at the plant.
- Candidate will assist in determining what spare parts are required on hand for that equipment.
- Candidate will write and execute preventive maintenance procedures and schedules for that equipment.
- Main point of contact for communication with operations for duration of PM’s.
- Coordination of materials and parts needed to complete the PM’s.
- Give direction and delegate task to junior PM team members.
- The Subject Matter Expert for process equipment PM procedures and rebuilds for heat treatment system, capstan roller racks, skaltek tire assembly, gear boxes, UV power supplies and irradiator systems.
- Responsible for make the call when process equipment is okay to return to service versus keep down for needed rebuild.
- Responsible for recommendation on future corrective maintenance work orders.
Required Education:
- At least one to two years of experience in maintenance at an industrial manufacturing environment with high school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of preventative maintenance experience or equivalent.
- Military background with maintenance and technical experience.
Required Skills:
- Hands-on mechanical working with hand tools and electrical test equipment.
- Able to critic and improve existing Preventative Maintenance protocols.
- Self-Starter and able to work with minimal direction.
- Able to work with team of others in performing preventative maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment.
Desired Skills:
- 5 years or more experience performing preventive, repair, and maintenance in a manufacturing environment on industrial equipment.
- Two year degree in Mechatronics Technician or equivalent.
- Diploma in Industrial Maintenance Technician or equivalent.
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience.

The range for this position is $32.50 hourly rate - $36.25 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
