Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Scope: Member of Planning and Scheduling team at Winston Salem Cable Plant. Responsible for execution of scheduling of manufacturing operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule production in the most efficient and cost effective manner, based on equipment, labor and material availability to achieve operational objectives. Activities include:
    • Dating sales orders
    • Releasing production orders to operations
    • Assigning fiber
    • Assigning finished goods to sales orders
  • Review production processes and coordinate with other planners / schedulers.
  • Participate on teams focused on process improvements, including ware flow, cycle time.
  • Participate on teams focused on improvement to MRP system, processes and data.
  • Provide inputs and maintain planning and scheduling metrics.

 

Education / Experience: Bachelors Degree (Engineering, Supply Chain or Business preferred)

 

Required Skills:

  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude
  • Comprehensive computer and Microsoft Office knowledge and skills
  • Knowledge of SAP or other MRP system, preferred
  • Knowledge of basic principles of supply chain – planning, forecasting, capacity, and purchasing
  • Able to problem solve
  • Communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills 

 

Soft skills: Detail oriented, accurate, organized, team player, flexible, reliable, ability to multi-task

 

Hours / work schedule: 8am-5pm, M-F. 40+ hours / week.  Weekend / off-hours coverage required
