Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead projects that drive continuous improvement in fiber optic cable production and strengthen the Product Quality Architecture of our manufacturing processes. This role is pivotal in enhancing our Quality Management System and ensuring that we consistently deliver superior products to meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with development, engineering, and manufacturing teams on complex projects to uphold quality standards.
- Evaluate the impact of changes to products, processes, and equipment on product attributes.
- Interface with Commercial teams, New Product Development, Product Engineering, and Operations to align manufacturing specifications with customer requirements.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activities.
- Recommend upgrades to equipment, workflows, or layouts to optimize efficiency, quality, and resource utilization.
- Develop and implement robust quality architectures for new processes and products at the plant level.
- Facilitate root cause analysis for products and processes failing to meet standards.
- Partner with engineering teams to develop proactive, sustainable solutions.
- Oversee, evaluate, and release non-standard products as needed.
- Conduct experimental designs and perform data analysis.
- Foster a culture of quality ownership and accountability across teams.
Travel Requirements
- Negligible (5% or less).
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in a technical, quality, or manufacturing role.
- Manufacturing, quality, or process engineering experience.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and basic statistical methods.
- Familiarity with Quality Systems, TL/ISO certifications, and auditing processes.
- Strong project management and structured problem-solving skills.
- Independent worker with a proactive mindset.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of optical cable manufacturing processes and product attributes.
- Experience in new product or process introductions, improvements, and root cause analysis.
- Skill in developing and using Data Analytics dashboards.
- Proficiency in statistical software such as JMP or Minitab.
- Experience with ERP and QMS platforms (e.g., SAP, ETQ, SharePoint, WindChill).
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or DMAIC project experience.
- Internal quality auditor certification or experience.

The range for this position is $83,750.00 - $115,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
