Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Lead projects to drive continual improvement in the production of fiber optic cable and/or strengthen the Product Quality Architecture of manufacturing processes. Drive understanding and improvements to the overall Quality Management System.
Key Responsibilities

Collaborates with development, engineering and manufacturing functions on complex projects to ensure quality standards are in place
-
Evaluate the impact of product, process and equipment changes on product attributes
-
Interfaces with Commercial groups, New Product Development teams, Product Engineering, and Operations to understand customer needs and translate them into meaningful manufacturing specifications and measurement protocols

Leads process improvement and lean manufacturing programs and activities
-
Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, equipment layout or other aspects of the process to optimize quality, efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy and raw materials

Ensures that a robust quality architecture is developed for new processes and products at the plant level
-
Facilitates efforts in understanding processes capability and product quality architecture

Facilitate root cause analysis on products and processes not meeting specified standards and requirements
-
Work with engineering on proactive sustainable solutions vs. reactive responses
-
Hold/ evaluate/ release ware produced under non-standard conditions
-
Perform experimental designs and data analysis
-
Instills a quality focused culture in which everyone feels ownership for quality and acts accordingly

Required Education:
-
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Required Experience
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical, quality, or manufacturing role
-
Experience in manufacturing, quality or process engineering
-
Good data collection and analysis skills; basic understanding of statistics and control charts
-
Familiarity with Quality Systems, audits, TL and ISO Certifications or other types of Quality certifications
-
Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues effectively
-
Structured problem-solving skills to drive to root cause
-
Effective in Project Management
-
Independent worker can complete tasks with minimal supervision
-
Ability to work on technical projects teams in leadership and subordinate roles
-
Good written and verbal communications skills
-
Sound decision making skills
-
Experience with MS-office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Desired Experience

Knowledge of Optical Cable manufacturing process and product attributes

Experience working on teams in new product/process introduction/receiving, process improvements, and root cause analysis

Experience in developing and using Data Analytics dashboards

Experience with various statistical packages like JMP and Minitab
-
Experience with ERP and QMS platforms (SAP, ETQ, SharePoint, WindChill)
-
Six Sigma Black or Green Belt or DMAIC project experience
-
Internal quality auditor experience

The range for this position is $83,750.00 - $115,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
