Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose

We are seeking a motivated Shift Team Lead to join our team as part of the WCP Leadership group. This role offers opportunities for career progression into various functions such as Facilities, Engineering, Supply Chain, Technology, or Division Engineering.

 

The Shift Team Lead will oversee cable operations within the facility and have supervisory responsibility for 30-45 hourly associates and 4 operations coordinators. Reporting directly into Operations leadership, this position plays a critical role in driving production efficiency while maintaining safety standards and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Environment:

  • Ensure all work is performed safely while maintaining a safe work environment for employees and visitors alike. 
  • Observe safe practices proactively; report unsafe conditions promptly.

 

Production Management:

  • Develop activities within production areas/warehouse to meet or exceed goals related to output quality and cost objectives. 
  • Prioritize production schedules based on product induction timelines, equipment efficiency levels, and material supply availability.
  • Adjust staffing assignments across machines/processes for optimal flow efficiency.
  • Achieve world-class housekeeping standards alongside seamless product flow management.

 

Employee Development & Engagement:

  • Train employees to take accountability for individual/team performance; foster meaningful challenges at work.
  • Recognize high-performing individuals/groups regularly via rewards systems/programs encouraging open communication channels between teams/departments!

 

This position requires flexibility and may include hours during night, day and weekend shifts.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts or 3-5 years of Manufacturing Leadership Experience
  • Technical or Engineering Degree is preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in Manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of previous supervisory experience is preferred.

The range for this position is $79,166.00 - $108,854.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
