Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Direct team operations group to achieve Cost, Quality, Health and Safety objectives. Execute the plant plan objectives at the tactical level focused on continuous improvement

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute operating plan to achieve team objectives
  • Provide immediate supervision to subordinates to execute assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies
  • Review team performance with team members at regular intervals
  • Build effective relations with plant support groups
  • Conduct hourly/direct labor employee performance reviews and provide coaching as needed
  • Ensure team executes documented operating procedures and follows established document control protocols
  • Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)
  • Implement and monitor training and certification plans
  • Hold reports accountable for adherence to established procedures and setpoints for process control; ensures awareness and compliance to changes

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts
  • Computer skills (Excel - Basic formulas, and Word)

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Bachelor of Science (Engineering or technical)
  • 1-3 years work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2-3 years previous supervisory experience
  • Certified Green Belt
  • 2-3 years experience with industrial labor relations (union or union-free)
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the plant organization

The range for this position is $79,166.00 - $108,854.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
