Scope of Position:

Reporting to the Drug Discovery Business Manager, the Studies Manager, ADME has overall responsibility for the technical conduct of non-clinical studies, supervision of the testing staff, and implementation of operational goals to meet financial targets. Provides key input across functions for Marketing, Sales, Legal, and Quality as well as working closely with the Development team and Product Line Manager, ADME to introduce new assay capabilities.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day activities of the studies facility including engaging with the Study Directors and staff to provide technical support, study design and finalization of protocols; scheduling, assignment and on-time completion of contract service and research projects to meet customer service standards.
  • Provide feedback to marketing regarding clients’ Corning Gentest Studies requirements.
  • Active participant in the Drug Discovery Team to provide insight to business strategies, new products, and new directions.
  • Active member on designated project teams to deliver improved performance and profitability to the Drug Discovery business.
  • Interact with Finance to meet financial goals.
  • Work with plant manager and managers across functions such as business operations, development, marketing, sales, and operations to plan continuing development of laboratory services including new services, new research programs, and facility expansion to ensure adequate laboratory support.
  • Provide leadership to the laboratory in total quality management. Ensure quality standards by following Company & Department policies & procedures.
  • Support sales personnel in serving as a technical spokesperson during travel to clients, tradeshows, and teleconferences.
  • Develop department annual budget with business manager and finance controller.  Advise in the preparation, execution, and monitoring of the annual operating expense budget to contain costs, including assessment of laboratory equipment needs.
  • Active talent development for the studies team: recruitment, evaluation and hiring of scientific and technical personnel; performance appraisals; promotions; transfers; and disciplinary actions.
  • Provide study director support as needed through participation in data acquisition, analysis, and draft reporting.
  • Coordinate with CLS commercial team and business manager to provide quotations for services and budget for laboratory needs.
  • Provide consultation to internal and external customers on non-clinical projects and Research & Development (R&D) projects.
  • Overall supervision of planning, application, and execution of sponsor-funded research projects.


Travel Requirements:

  • 20-30% domestic and international travel.


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Monday- Friday, first shift position, standard business hours.


Required Education:

  • Ph.D. in pharmacology, toxicology, or related science.


  • M.D. with at least two (2) years postdoctoral experience in a related area.


Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of direct supervisory experience in ADME industry setting.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in an industry lab governed by FDA regulations preferred.

  • Deep understanding of ADME products and applications.
  • Strong communication skills including written scientific ability.
