Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of, develop, and establish new core capabilities in the electrical field, including preventive and predictive maintenance of electrical equipment, control systems, and SCR, VFD, among others.
  • Provide Process Controls System Design support to system in projects and operations.
  • Lead Technology Transfer to Asia plants and China projects.
  • Thoroughly documentation to changes during technology transfer.
  • Lead Level 3 manufacturing support activities to immediate solution for production and permanent solutions for improvement and process optimization.
     

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Electrical or Controls area.
  • Experience as a process electrical/controls engineer, utilizing process control to automate and manage operational variables.
  • Having the knowledge of various Process Control systems and equipment, such as electronic devices, valve, instrumentation, digital and analog controls and feedback devices.
  • Prefer 3+ years of experience in designing and commissioning Process Environment Controls System.  Proven track record for successful system design and commissioning.
     

Required Skills

  • Fundamental understanding of electrical systems, electrical power substation, grounding protection system, low voltage equipment and devices such as transformer, SCR/VFD, motor, UPS, protection relay/breaker etc. are essential 
  • Failure Analysis of electrical system equipment
  • Willing to understand Corning glass making process and then apply the engineering solution for process improvement and optimization as a process controls expert.
  • Able to create functional specification and perform process electrical development.
  • Project Leadership experience (specification, scope, budget and schedule)
  • Control cabinet layout and design per NEC, IEC or China standard.
  • Commissioning Field devices, such as VFD, Instrumentation and performing FAT and SAT.
     

Desired Skills

  • Experience in Process Electrical Controls equipment and construction site management.
  • Experience in root cause failure analysis (troubleshooting) of controls and electrical systems.
  • Expertise in Modern Control System Design (architecture and detailed level design) including Field device (instrumentation), PLC, SCADA, HMI and PI system, system communication protocol design such as Ethernet/IP and OPC.
  • Proficiency in reading P&ID(Proportional-Integral-Derivative) diagrams, validating process control designs, and making necessary corrections.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, Project, and Visio.
  • Edit drawings using AutoCad/EPLAN.
  • SolidWorks 3D.
  • Design electrical and controls cabinets and systems.
  • Experience with Design tools: PPA, FMEA, DA.
  • MATLAB & Simulink

 

Soft Skills                                                

  • Fluent in Chinese, with strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and directly with project customers to define project scope, identify project requirements and deliverables and satisfy objectives/timelines with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Cross-cultural Sensitivity, Ability to work in a diversity team-based environment and participate on a matrix project team, Team player, perform well as an individual subject matter expert contributor.
  • Ability to communicate and sell your ideas to gain stakeholder’s approvals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, planning and organizing, building cross functional relationship.
