Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

 

Purpose of the Position
As Mechanical Engineer role who needs to take assessing project requirements and measuring the performance of mechanical components, devices and engines, and maintaining and modifying equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient. Producing and implementing designs and test procedures, finally, writing reports and documentation as system design contents.

Major Responsibilities:
•    Establish goals and objectives in conjunction with Group Leader and manage the engineering activities in electrical and control system to achieve the said objectives.
•    Join the expansion project for system start-up, inspection, commissioning and acceptance
•    Support operations personnel via trouble shooting and provide training as needed.
•    Provide project leadership for facility processes - including feasibility studies, planning, AR sponsorship, complete documentation, i.e., generally accepted project management guidelines.
•    Design, modify, and recommend equipment types to meet or exceed requirements in operation control.
•    Lead developments and propose engineering programs in electrical and control engineering that can improve or enhance the current process capabilities.
•    Develop SOS / SOP document.
•    To implement PM/PDM activities and achieve maintenance performance.
•    Identification, analysis and improvement of machine breakdown.
•    Standardization document preparation, and establish mechanical spare parts 
•    Develop Mechanical system 5years plan
•    Trouble shoots material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action.
•    Implements and documents material, process and/or equipment changes (Follow PCPD).
•    Assures safety of operators and equipment and Complies with safety and environmental regulations.
•    Executes cost reduction and improvement (a-DMAIC) projects link plant top5 objectives.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Ability
1.    Familiar with the practice of equipment develop, design, select, purchase, start-up and debug.
2.    Trouble shooting skills such as bearing replacement etc.
3.    Familiar with equipment such as PM/PDM program
4.    Knowledge of base design conceptual in equipment development such as pump sizing, pipeline etc.
5.    Knowledge of vibration measurement and adjustment
6.    Understand PFD and PID drawing
7.    Good at problem solving and logical thinking and decision making.
8.    Communication, coordination, and follow-up ability 
9.    Good presentation and reporting skill 
10.    Good English capability

 

Education
Required:
•    Bachelor of Science (Engineering or Technical)
•    Graduates need a degree in a relevant subject such as mechanical, automotive or aeronautical or manufacturing engineering

Desired:
•    Master of Science 
(Mechanical or Electrical)
 

Experience
Required:
•    3~5 years of experience in Facility domain.
•    3~5 years of mechanical operation experience repairing and/or installing equipment
•    3~5 years of experience using vibration measurement
•    Experienced in system start-up, inspection, commissioning and acceptance
•    Experience using Microsoft office (Word / Excel / power point) 
•    
Desired:
•    Project management experience 
•    Pump and pipeline design experience
