Active in most of the Group’s businesses for over 50 years, the Corning European Technology Center, located in Fontainebleau-Avon (France), provides expertise in research, development, and engineering.

 

Within the Process Research, Development & Engineering group at our Fontainebleau site, we are seeking a Fusion Engineer (M/F) on a permanent contract.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In a demanding and innovative international environment, you will play a central role in managing fusion projects, acting as the technical leader from the definition phase through to equipment commissioning.

 

In this role, you will contribute to the design and implementation of high-value-added equipment, working closely with our customers, partners, and suppliers in France and internationally.


•Define and structure projects: gather and consolidate customer requirements, develop technical specifications, and establish the technical, budgetary, and scheduling foundations of projects.
•Lead engineering studies and technical decisions: coordinate the design office, guide the sizing of melting and forming equipment, and validate solutions related to materials, heating systems, and auxiliary installations.
•Coordinate stakeholders: serve as the interface between customers, suppliers, and partners in an international and multicultural environment.
•Support execution through commissioning: participate in acceptance testing, supervise installation activities, and contribute to equipment start-up while ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.

PROFILE

We are looking for an engineer graduated from a general engineering school or specialized in materials science/ceramics, with successful initial experience in a similar role, ideally gained in thermal processes, the glass industry, or industrial equipment.

 

You combine strong technical expertise, project management skills, and a hands-on approach, with the ability to thrive in an international environment.

 

Key Skills and Competencies

•Solid knowledge of mechanics and thermal engineering; knowledge of glass manufacturing processes is an advantage.
•Experience with modeling and simulation tools (COMSOL, SolidWorks).
•Ability to work effectively across R&D, Engineering and Manufacturing teams.Experience in project management and technical coordination.
•Fluent English is essential.
