Purpose of the Position:

Responsible for supporting specification management, product qualification, and product change activities to enable the successful introduction and lifecycle management of glass products. This role ensures testing, documentation, approvals, and cross-functional workflows are executed effectively to meet internal standards, customer requirements, and production timelines.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with Research & Development teams to ensure thorough product understanding during new glass introductions.
  • Responsible for Product Qualification testing including material property testing requirements for specification documents, and proper record keeping of data and testing protocols.  Will collaborate with all workstreams to align on test requirements for specific compositions and review data for final approvals.  
  • Own material specifications, create and maintain material specifications, support annual specification updates, and ensure alignment between qualification results and product documentation.
  • Work with Product and Application Engineering team members once product specifications are established, providing technical support when customer issues arise.
  • Prepare technical presentations and supporting materials for internal and customer communications as needed.
  • Support product change management by coordinating testing and approvals, maintaining process transparency, and improving standard operating procedures to strengthen consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to customer-focused processes by supporting Voice of Customer activities, collaborating with internal teams to resolve technical requests, and ensuring testing and data analysis support informed decisions.
  • Capture new test method implementation by understanding customer and application measurement requirements, defining specifications, and ensuring successful execution.
  • Develop working knowledge of related GG business systems to understand interactions with directly responsible workstreams, including support for tank and lehr qualification activities as needed to help ensure workflows are executed efficiently and in alignment with internal standards and process requirements.
  • This position works closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Engineering, Quality, Reliability, Glass Technology, manufacturing, and laboratory teams to execute responsibilities.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of a BS Engineering degree (chemical or materials science preferred) or equivalent experience                            
  • Experience in product specification / qualification, quality architecture, process improvement projects
  • Experience working with R&D groups for glass development and property testing
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and JMP; comfortable adopting AI-enabled productivity tools
  • Able to lead technical review meetings, gain agreement on test plans, and drive multiple workstreams to completion 
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate strong project coordination, technical documentation, process management, collaboration, and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and priorities.
  • Technical knowledge of glass/material characterization, measurement systems, data analysis, and statistical methods; familiarity with glass melt, ceram, and development/testing processes.
  • High level of operating rigor, attention to detail, accountability, and commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Capability to plan and execute technical projects with minimal supervision, using sound judgment, data analysis, and practical decision-making.

The range for this position is $100,646.00 - $138,388.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
