Plant Controller

Role Purpose

The Plant Controller is responsible for leading the financial and accounting activities of the manufacturing facility and serving as a strategic business partner to plant leadership. This role oversees plant GM, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, inventory controls, financial reporting, and internal controls to ensure accurate financial results and operational efficiency. The Plant Controller provides timely analysis of plant performance, identifies risks and opportunities, and supports decision-making that drives profitability, productivity, and continuous improvement. This position works closely with operations, supply chain, procurement, and corporate finance to strengthen financial discipline and improve plant results.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the finance function, and be a key member and decision maker of the Plant management staff
• Close the financial books monthly, analyze results, support and review period financial reports and ledgers, and publish period reports
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities, including product costing, fixed asset management, inventory valuation, revenue recognition, period reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and overall asset and liability control
• Drive process improvements within the finance function and seek improvement opportunities to reduce complexity
• Proactively work with plant team to provide valuable insights to identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Lead financial evaluation of capital investment proposals. Conduct NPV, IRR, payback, and sensitivity analyses. Monitor capital project execution and spending performance.
• Serve as the finance owner for revenue governance and commercial compliance.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment. Ensure compliance with US & PRC GAAP, statutory reporting requirements, tax regulations, and corporate governance standards.
• Coordinate with tax team, TC team, auditors, legal team, government affair team and government authorities on regulatory matters when needed.
• Ability to take on various ad-hoc responsibilities as required. Source, select, and develop talent to support global and entity Finance talent needs

Experiences/Education - Required

• 10+ years of relevant work experience in manufacturing finance, and cost accounting experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong background in cost accounting, inventory accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, and plant performance analysis
• Experience partnering with plant operations and leadership teams to improve cost and margin performance and operational results
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
• Experience in multinational companies is preferred.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing accounting and cost accounting.
• Strong knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley, internal controls, accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Expertise in cost accounting, including standard costing, bill of materials, labor and overhead analysis, and inventory valuation
• Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and variance analysis
• Demonstrated ability in revenue recognition principles, customer contracts, rebates, consignment/bailment models, and credit management.
• Ability to analyze financial and operational data and translate insights into business recommendations
• Fluent in both English and Mandarin.
