Scope of Position

Summer engineering intern position to support the manufacturing and engineering of world-class, high-precision optical systems in Corning's Advanced Optics division. The summer intern will work with Corning Fairport’s optical design team to model, tolerance and analyze complex optical systems from concept to completion.

Requirements

  • BS or MS Candidate, having completed at least three years' higher education.
  • Coursework in geometrical optics, physical optics, aberration theory and interferometry.
  • Working knowledge of analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, or Visual Basic programming in Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with major optical design software desired (e.g. CODE V, Zemax, LightTools, etc.).
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
