Lean Engineer

Purpose of Position:

  • The role of the Lean Engineer Jr. is to act as change agent to promote cost savings and cultural changes by playing a strong leadership in his/her assigned core team. In doing so, the Lean Engineer Jr. is expected to drive improvements and provide support to implement initiatives originated by the core team itself or by the PEx/Lean organization
  • Mention the major responsibilities and tasks of the position.
  • Understand service metrics (OTP, MCT, Lead Time) and use Lean tools to improve performance
  • Is able to identify process limitations and provides potential solutions
  • Generate Plans and have a good follow-up to achieve it
  • Full usage of SRA as a management tool, keeps updates for milestones and status
  • Lean Intermediate (CLC). Apply lean fundamentals: Workplace Organization, iKaizen, Gemba Engagement, VSM, Standardized Work and Visual Performance Metrics
  • Eliminate or mitigate 8 wastes and appy 5s+1 in operations floor
  • Lead minor layout changes

 

List the two most complex decisions indicative of this function and its impact to the function, department and/or corporation.

  • Putting comprehensive project plans together and monitors development
  • Promote Lean  transformation by selecting  Lean tools to assure his/her assigned Business Unit achieves Business Plan for current year

  • Production Managers, Internal Project Stakeholders,

Personnel Directed:

  • None                 

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

 Education:

  • Engineering BS Degree                 
  • English: >=80% Can speak but hardly debate points of view       

 Work Experience:

  • 2 years as Lean Technician or 6 months as intern + 1yr as Lean Technician

Additional Skills:

  • Self-motivated individual with a history of delivering positive results through continuous improvement
  • Communication skills: Person understands and presents technical detail
  • Is capable to schedule the meeting with a specific agenda and take meeting minutes.      

Extraordinary Activities:

  • Contribute and participate in External Audits in department, as well as being responsible for the good results of such.

Some examples of Audits are: ISO, TL, 5's, Safety, among others. leading  projects affecting site and or other departments besides his/her core team area
