Staff Project Leader
Lead and/or direct engineering resources in the development and improvement of processes and equipment.
- Achieve low cost manufacturing, superior quality/service and improved capability/capacity.
- Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
- Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
- Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
- Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
- Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
- Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
- May also be responsible for the unit's Performance Excellence (Six-Sigma) project portfolio, assuring the effective use of different improvement methodologies (DMAIC, Lean, DESGN, etc) toward the achievement of division or plant strategic goals.
- In this role, would assist and coach belts and managers in project selection and implementation; and advise division/plant management and leaders on the use of Quality tools, methods and processes.
- Follows standard practices and procedure in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
- Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives.
- Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees.
- Recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies.
- Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules.
- Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels.
- Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.
- Encompasses the application of scientific and technological principles concerned with the integrity of manufactured products and processes from an engineering standpoint, esp. design specifications, testing procedures, and minimum quality standards.
- B.S. or equivalent technical degree
- TRAINING ALIGNED WITH MANUFACTURING & ENGINEERING INSTITUTE LEARNING JOURNEY
- Track record of delivering results.
- Broad manufacturing and engineering experiences
- Project leadership (scope to implementation)
- Coaching and developing junior engineers/technicians
- Advanced degree in Engineering or applied science
- Experience across multiple organizations/plants
- Experience in process engineering
- Knowledge of manufacturing accounting and control
- Knowledge of manufacturing excellence tools (AME, KT, Lean)
- Experience with industrial labor relations (union facilities)
- Experience with cross-functional collaboration
