Nuestro segmento de comunicaciones ópticas acaba de evolucionar de ser un fabricante de fibra óptica y cable, hardware y equipos para convertirse en un proveedor integral de soluciones ópticas líder en la industria, abarcando la industria de comunicaciones más amplia. Este segmento se clasifica en dos grupos de productos principales: red de operador y red empresarial. El grupo de productos de red de portador consta principalmente de productos y soluciones para infraestructuras de comunicaciones de fibra óptica para servicios como comunicaciones de video, datos y voz. El grupo de productos de red empresarial consta principalmente de redes de comunicación por fibra óptica dirigidas a negocios, gobiernos y personas para uso propio.

 

Role and Responsibilities

 

Environmental: Determines impact on company operations and communicates data to appropriate engineering personnel for use in making engineering decisions. Communicate strategies and requirements to be in compliance. Assist in federal, state, and local regulatory audits. Receive assignments in the form of objectives with goals and process to meet goals outlined. Validate environmental projects to measure benefit on waste and energy or water reduction. Work is reviewed by management to measure objectives achievements. Administer company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommend changes to unit or sub-unit policies and processes. Evaluate changes in process, new processes, products, operations to determine environmental impacts, according to the Management of Change procedure. Lead or support environmental initiatives at Corporate and plant level. Support on ISO 14001:2015 external and internal audits. Update environmental KPIs. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will cause delays in schedules. Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.


Safety: Provide leadership for the development and implementation of strategic objectives to manage and control safety risks. Manage the execution of risk assessments in order to determine engineering controls to minimize injuries likelihood. Implement Corning’s safety strategies and improvement initiatives. Set up processes to conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments to reduce risk and identify process improvements. Manage specific safety programs related to Contractor Safety and Emergency Preparedness, in compliance with legal regulations and Corning standards. Evaluate changes in process, new processes, products, operations to determine that all safety requirements are communicated and completed to eliminate risks and comply with safety standards and norms. Support on Corporate and government audits. Administer and communicate safety KPIs. Lead specific assigned safety projects as required by business needs and/or regulation changes. Validate safety projects and leading practices to confirm risk reduction and benefit; as well as, communicate to other locations. Analyze and coordinate the following up to all type of incidents investigations to ensure that actions are based on systems improvements and the application of engineering controls is consistent. Assignments are received in task oriented terms. Provide directions to subordinates using established policies and precedents. Focus on skills development of EHS Team to achieve the best level of competencies. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall quality and efficiency. Administers and executes policies and procedures that typically affect individual subordinate employees. Accomplish tasks mainly through direct supervision employees. Monitors daily operations of a unit and actively assists, or provides direction to, subordinates as required. Ensure that projects are completed on schedule following established procedures and schedules. Majority of liaison is on internal basis with subordinates and supervisors at equivalent level or one level higher. Liaison normally involves specific phases of a project or operation. External contacts are infrequent and involve routine matters.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience as Safety or EHS Engineer.

Knowledge of Mexican safety and hygiene regulations. Understanding OSHA standards.

Business understanding and involvement.

Solid understanding and experience to drive safety or EHS internal and external audits.

Experience managing and leading projects.

Able to analyze data and crate action plans with solid results.

Experience setting and managing department objectives.

Strong leadership capability.

Able to interact at all levels.

Presentation and communication skills.
