Production Supervisor

 

 

 

  1. Purpose of Position.    

 

  1. Lead  manufacturing activities to achieve efficient operations  directing and supervising  the performance of individuals and team of associates who put together components to make assemblies or process raw materials into finished products in an industrial environment in order to exceed Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale and Safety goals

 

 

  1. Mention the major responsibilities and tasks of the position.

 

 

  1. Lead  manufacturing activities to achieve efficient operations
    1. Productivity Analysis and Improvement Plans
    2. Implement update and maintain Flex Staffing Model (Where applicable)
    3. Ensure to have staff capacity and equipment according to demand
    4. Ensure keeping up to date capacity levels in SAP in agreement with the S&OP requirements and the actual order entry
    5. Support Value Stream Map creation  and Maintenance
    6. Lead daily  Core Team meetings
    7. Lead the core team to meet and exceed bussiness unit goals and metrics
    8. Maintain close surveillance over manufacturing activities  through reports, meetings and continuous feedback
  2. Assure data driven efficient  utilization and achievement of
    1. Budget, personnel, equipment and facilities
    2. VOH,FOH and materials cost
    3. Stretch cost target goals
  3. Assure frequent revisions, active participation and improvement plans on
    1. Profit and loss statements to identify opportunities of improvement
    2. Product Line Team meetings
    3. Weekly meetings
    4. Performance Review of Operations meetings
    5. Coaching plans for other Supervisors to help them understand their role in the achievement of QCDMS metrics
    6. Lead and participate with the team for corrective and preventive actions resolution within the alloted timeframe
  4. Lead or support projects for cost reduction and/or area initiatives and cost reduction projects
  5. Assist on the preparation of executive and  staff presentations (participate-when applicable)
  6. Focus on delivering changes through people development and management
  7. Accomplishes manufacturing results by coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  8. Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personell;accomplishing work results;establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems;reporting results of processing flow on shift production summaries
  9. Maintains manufacturing information updated
  10. Drive improvements and maintain  safe culture and clean work in compliance with established policies, procedures, 5’s culture and safety
  11. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; internal benchmarking.
  12. Manage vacations and attendance for direct reports
  13. Point of contact for new product/process introductions to ensure safety, ergonomics, 5’s and productivity goals are met
  14. Lead and participate on TPM and Lean activities
  15. Assurance of the certification and training of  all personnel assigned
  16. Coordinate monthly PSA inventories activities, keeping track of the discrepancies of PSA inventories (SAP)
  17. Participate in the TL9000, ISO 14000 audits to keep the certification.
  18. Contribute in corrective and preventive actions documentation, implementation and execution

6.     Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

 

 A. Education.

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent    
  • Master degree (preferred)                                            

       B. Work Experience.

  • 5 years of experience in the Manufacturing field
  • 3 or more years of experience in leading and/or supervising personnel

C. Skills.

  • Proficient English and Spanish
  • Understanding and experience of Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Mapping Basic/Preferred
  • Green Belt Certified Basic/Preferred
  • Data driven decision making
  • Quality Systems and TPM knowledge Basic
  • Project Management experience Preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Dynamic and able to manage multiple activities and prioritize
  • Strong Leadership Skills to effectively manage cross functional teams
  • People development

      

7. Extraordinary Activities.

A.  Contribute and participate in Internal and External Audits in department, as well as being responsible for the good results of such.

    Some examples of Audits are: ISO, TL, 5's, Safety, Sarbox, among others

Facilitate and direct daily production activities to ensure control and compliance to established process control and operating procedures. Achieve plant requirements for safety, quality, delivery, selects, uptime, throughput and cost

  • Schedule resources and prioritizes activities to assure efficient production schedule compliance to include product changeovers, upgrades, experiments, new product runs, training and maintenance activities.
  • Provides daily direction to production and maintenance employees, team leaders, technicians and engineers on established procedures and policies
  • Communicate and report production and process performance metrics to production teams, plant operations staff and functional leaders. Ensure that production targets and delivery requirements are met on a daily and weekly basis
  • Engage with plant teams and functional groups responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements & cost reduction projects
  • Perform performance reviews and develop and reinforce career and talent development plans for salaried/indirect labor and hourly/direct labor employees
  • Ensure that the production process is operating in compliance to established process control set-points and operating procedures. Enforce process discipline and rigorous change control
  • Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)
  • Develop, implement and monitor training, qualification, certification and development programs for new and experienced operators, team leaders and engineers
  • Facilitate and monitor all process/equipment changes and experimental plans involving the production process, including process improvement, new product trial runs, equipment/tooling redesign, raw material, batch and/or component changes

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts
  • Frontline supervisory or team leader experience in a plant manufacturing environment, has demonstrated capability to hold people and teams accountable to process control and discipline
  • Experience with leading teams and projects to meet significant continuous improvement goals, cost reduction or performance improvement initiatives
  • Experience and understanding of process management systems, process control and discipline techniques.
  • Trained and experienced in supervisory effectiveness, conflict resolution and effective listening skills.
  • Training and understanding of cost accounting and managing for profitability
  • Trained and experienced in fundamentals of safety and health

  • Experience in a process engineering role, capable to perform in-depth analysis to solve complex problems
  • Exposure to launching and ramping new products into manufacturing
  • Green Belt certified in Performance Excellence, Lean and DMAIC methods
