Measurements Engineering Supervisor      

DEPARTMENT:       Measurements Engineering       

LOCATION:         Reynosa Plant


  1. Purpose of Position.   
  1.  Provides Admin and technical leadership in develop and document standardized methods and procedures for measurement systems, work with Engineering at varies levels for the development of new measurement systems and upgrade of existing measurement systems, actively engage with key manufacturing and development activities to canvass/identify measurement develop needs that provide enhanced product attributes, cost reductions, or other competitive advantages.


  1. Mention the major responsibilities and tasks of the position.
  1. Supports all company safety and quality programs initiatives.
  2. Manufacturing support point of contact for measurement equipment systems
  3. Understand system level problem statements and identify potential solutions, develop novel approaches to solve complex problems and make quick critical experiments to demonstrate feasibility
  4. Lead cross-functional/work-stream project teams to support process improvement process through measurement software and hardware upgrades, evaluating process cost, quality, and capability alternatives;  performs project management and documentation activities
  5. Provide progress reports to key stakeholders and organizational leadership
  6. Utilize and promotes the usage of statistical tools, engineering data, and DMAIC/DESGN/Lean/MEE methodologies to develop process understanding to support robust manufacturing processes and Measurement systems
  7. Work with Engineering at varies levels for the development and introduction of new measurements technology  and upgrade of existing measurement systems, includes participation in design, building, testing and deployment of measurement systems
  8. Participate in cross-functional and virtual project teams or in Stage Gate (RA, LA, GA) defined, in order to support global standardization processes
  9. Lead and mentor the development and execution of Measurement Systems Analysis and R&R studies, design experiments and analyze data to identify and implement improvements to the measurement systems or production process
  10. Create/update documentation for release to production including operating procedures, PM and troubleshooting
  11. Train engineering, maintenance and operations people how to use and maintain the measurement systems
  12. Propose and implement iKaizen and Safety iKaizen (ergonomic devices and processes) to enable a safe work environment; support and perform 5S implementation in work area to achieve Plant goal
  13. Able to train, coach, and mentor fellow employees in areas pertaining to the job responsibilities
  14. Capable of learning department’s knowledge and capability, along with commercially available measurement systems and other applicable technologies
  15. Supervise and performs complex qualitative tests or quantitative analysis on samples using techniques that vary from the use of standard equipment to automated instrumentation


  1. List the two most complex decisions indicative of this function and its impact to the function, department and/or corporation.
  1.  Serves as a technical subject matter expert for metrology activities, with specific expertise in areas such as surface metrology, spectrophotometry, and laser measurement
  2. Define requirements, selects and fully deploy measurement equipment/systems to support operations and business objectives

6.    Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.


 A. Education.

  • BS Degree is required in one of the following disciplines: Computer science, Electronics Engineering, Physics, Mathematics
  • Master in Science related is desired

       B. Work Experience.

  • 5 year or more in similar position or manufacturing equivalent is required
  • Minimum 2-3 year experience in the following: Measurement System deployment/usage (Metrology equipment)

 C. Additional Skills.

  • Experience with metrology software related
  • Strong working knowledge in measurement system analysis & measurement techniques
  • Strong working knowledge in GD&T
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting metrology equipment such as Zeiss CMM, O-Inspect, Keyence
  • Strong knowledge of engineering theories, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques
  • Background in computer programing.
  • Experience using software that efficiently analyzes large data sets
  • Some exposure to electrical/controls, instrumentation (e.g. sensors) and vision systems technologies
  • Some exposure in optical theory, image capture, lighting, cameras, 3rd party imaging tools
  • Problem solving skills with hands-on approach
  • Basic project management skills (e.g. scoping, budgeting, timelines etc.)
  • Proficient English skills


7. Extraordinary Activities.

A. Contribute and participate in External Audits in department, as well as being responsible for the good results of such.

Some examples of Audits are: ISO, TL, 5's, Safety, Sarbox, among others.
