Description
 
Maintenance technician is responsible for maintaining the physical assets of the property, ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness through preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks on a 24/7 bases operation. Maintenance technician understand Corning’s values and demonstrate proactive attitude towards accurately recording and submitting time-keeping and work order related data, participate and utilize TPM, Lean Manufacturing & PQA tools
 
Responsibilities
 General Responsibilities
•    Preform skilled troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, modification and installation of machines & equipment
•    Operate machinery and equipment to determine the cuase of failure through testing, visual inspection, and listening for unusualy sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions.
•    Implement and preform preventive maintenance in order to avoid equipment downtime as well as extend life cycle of equipment.
•    Disassemble machines and equipment to replace defective or worn parts following OEM specifications and blueprints using measuring equipment and tools.
•    Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings.
•    Maintenance and troubleshooting of molding machines and peripheral equipment
•    Require spare parts needed to execute PMs  at tool crib
•    Align, tension, lubricate, grease and oil equipment as needed.
•    Machine refurbishments, component upgrades and system consultation
•    Provide training  to operators of molding machines for Autonomous Care activities
•    Implement new improvement ideas to reduce PM lead time
•    Update Tabware System and close all the work orders once work is done.
•    Support to other departments as needed (i.e. New projects, Engineering changes and quality issues)
•    Help to control  spare parts usage
•    Follow up to TPM activities and metrics

Education 
•    Technical degree
•    3 to 4 years of experience on Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of Injection Molding Machines including peripheral or auxiliary equipment

•    Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with production staff.
•    Highly organized with the ability to work with little or no supervision
•    Able to make from simple to complex independent decisions regarding equipment troubleshooting.

•    Ability to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication.

•    At least 3 years of experience on Preventive and Corrective Maintenance of Injection Molding Machines including peripheral or auxiliary equipment
•    Basic Programmable Logic Controllers and/or robotics

•    Ability to read and interpret documents and schematic drawings
•    English not required
•    Ability to interpret electrical/mechanical schematics, drawings, block diagrams and flow charts
•    Ability to utilize multi-meter

Environmental, Health & Safety:
•    Occasionally operate forklifts/man lifts.

Exposure:
•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to, but not limited:
•    Work near moving mechanical parts.
•    Troubleshoot live (high/low voltage) electrical components.
•    Dusty conditions.
•    High noise environments over 80dB.
•    Outside weather in all conditions.
•    Chemicals used in the process (lubricants, cleaning agents, powder, solvents, etc.)
•    Temperatures between 75oF to 95oF
 

Additional Skills
Required:
•    Technical Degree
•    Demonstrated knowledge in a technical field.
•    Experience with LOTO
•    Experience on electrical safety, mechanical safety, hydraulic safety
•    Experience in usage of Personal Protection Equipment (fall protection, face protection, hand protection, head protection, hearing protection, arc flash protection, eyewear, respiratory, storage, footwear).
•    Experience in operating welding equipment (MIG & TIG)
•    Experience in operating forklift and/or hydraulic platform
•    Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office computer software
•    Proficiency with Internet Search Engines in order to search for OEM manuals, schematics, etc.
•    Basic understanding of what a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is for
•    English skills not required
