Process Engineering Sr

 

Responsibilities:

Perform work in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment. Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to effectively accomplish technical assignments and projects. Make decisions independently based upon sound engineering and scientific methods. 

Actively participate within and beyond department boundaries to resolve important process and product issues. Enhance manufacturing capabilities through the implementation of new ideas and methods. Independently execute projects to fulfill department goals and objectives in the areas of cost reduction, productivity gains, process flow, capacity increases, scrap reduction, and process and product enhancements.

 

Support cable manufacturing environment, to include:
 

- assisting production and maintenance personnel in day-to-day troubleshooting of equipment and processes
- conducting trend analyses of recurring errors
- developing proposals/designs/training to reduce errors and machine downtime
- implementing the corrections

Interface daily with operators and production team leaders to monitor and correct possible process fluctuations.

 

Manage all aspects of bringing new equipment into production, including:
 

- preparing financial justifications
- designing, specifying, and purchasing equipment
- tracking all spending related to the project
- developing maintenance and operator training documentation
- conducting equipment qualification and initial training of production personnel
- making provisions for repair parts stocking levels
- formally documenting all aspects of the project

 

Initiate and implement process or equipment improvements in order to reduce scrap/cost, increase run rates, or improve overall product performance and quality through the application of engineering principles.

 

Support the transfer of new cabling technology or materials from development to production.  Provide processing support during product development, develop plans as to how the equipment/processes will be employed into production and ensure that the new technology is repeatable in a production environment prior to transfer.  Ensure all production, maintenance, and calibration documentation is completed.

 

Take an active role in continuous improvement team activities and conduct all tasks consistent with the appropriate improvement methodology.

Perform other duties other as required.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science or higher Engineering degree, engineering designation from a certifying board, Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field and/or equivalent skills and experience in a related field.

Good analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

 

Desired Skills:
* Knowledge of cable manufacturing process and equipment
* Manufacturing experience and ability to work in a manufacturing environment
* Knowledge of MES systems, VB.NET and PI is a plus
* Project Management skills
