Molding Engineer



Responsible for maintaining and coordinating the operation, change and production program, managing resources based on the needs of the shift in the area and assisting in the planning of resources in operation.



  • Monitor & record mold cavitation in every machine Startup on mold tag
  • Must have travel availability
  • Provide technical support to shift for trouble shooting and problem resolution. Ensure equipment and processes meet and sustain standard production outputs
  • Responsible for the timely completion projects 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to read and write in English
  • Maintain and improve upon existing manufacturing practices for the manufacture of finished goods
  • Provide ideas and corrective actions for ongoing manufacturing issues
  • Keep updated setup sheets at machines at all times and keep a new set up sheet with the right machine number and the latest date.
  • Maintain the Standard cycle time on all machines at all times
  • Maintain Safety guards in Molding Machines for optimum effectiveness.
  • Assist in shut downs and start-ups
  • Perform all additional duties as required by the Production Supervisor and Process Engineer
  • Follow all company policies and procedure
  • Ensure a positive work environment and awareness of company goals and objectives
  • Set low pressure and mold protection to ensure minimal risk of mold damage and clean and protect the molds before removal from the press and prior to storage
  • Responsible for molding machine set up including auxiliary equipment as related to the molding process
  • Set up End of Arm tooling for robotic part removal
  • Respond to machine alarms in a timely manner
  • Responsible for proper handling and care of all materials, molds and tooling
  • Responsible for clear and consistent communication between shifts.
  • Verify machines settings in conformance with the process book.
  • Coordinate and participate in the molding correction action team.
  • Maintain cleaning and organization of mold storage, machines and the mold locations.
  • Responsible for the timely completion projects.

Be familiar with inspection procedures.                                           

  • Stop the machines and equipment when end production 
  • Follow up to completion on safety related findings with the area engineer
  • Ensure 5s requirements are being met in area
  • Evaluate the use of specific tools for processes - Impacts specific area metrics (OEE, OTD, Cook)
  • Participation in process validation (IQ-OQ-PQ)
  • Improve cycle time in order to metric Cost reduction
  • Improve the different metrics of the plant (OEE, OTM, Yield)
  • Work closely with tool room, maintenance, production, Quality  & Process Engineer for scheduling any tool work that is required
  • Supervise technical Process group (Process Technician, Setup Technician ) to monitor & record mold cavitation in every machine Startup on mold tag
  • Maintain and improve upon existing manufacturing practices for the manufacture of finished goods
  • Coordinate and participate in the molding correction action for ongoing manufacturing issues (Root cause analysis)
  • Knowledge of SPC applied to molding process
  • Experience in analyze and troubleshoot Plastic Injection Process
  • Contribute and participate in Internal and External Audits in department, as well as being responsible for the good results of such. Examples Audits include: ISO, TL, 5's, Safety, and Sarbox


  • B.S. degree in engineering or engineering technology preferred




Work Experience

  • 0- 2 years of experience on injection molding area or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and operation of a diversity of molding equipment (thermolators, dryers, Injection Molding machines, Cranes, Mold changeovers, etc.
  • Experience as a metrics administrator.   
  • Intermediate English level (preferred)
